Anthony Elanga’s claim Premier League’ fastest player might surprise Man City fans – it’s not even Kyle Walker

Manchester City is a club associated with technical prowess, the surprising thing about this team is that they have some of the quickest players in the Premier League. Obviously, names like Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva might first come to mind, but it is the electrifying pace of players like Kyle Walker and Erling Haaland that has many fans and pundits expressing admiration.

The Norwegian sensation, signed from Borussia Dortmund by Manchester City, has quickly built a reputation for his intense speed and clinical finishing. That enormous speed makes him “a nightmare to deal with” for defenders, where he is being mentioned as one of the fastest players in the league. Defender Joachim Andersen, who has faced Haaland on the pitch, described him as a “top player” with “incredible pace.”

Walker is an experienced defender who has definitely outgrown the age fact with incredible speed. Still being a (30y)+ player, he outpaces the younger once. The former Premier League Star Paul Merson even suggested that with time, Walker is getting quicker. Even his fellow City teammate Kevin De Bruyne claimed that Walker is faster than young and talented Jeremy Doku.

It’s not quite that simple, though. Former Manchester United Anthony Elanga named Haaland among his top three fastest players in the Premier League along with himself and Micky van de Ven, while Walker’s City teammate Ruben Dias even claimed Walker is quicker than Haaland as well as anyone else at City.

Manchester City has truly become a formidably strong team in the Premier League with pure speed and awareness. Complementing the fast counters by Haaland, the very fast recoveries up the back by Walker gave them a sure lead. With all these players still in the fine fit of their careers and showing their pace, the future truly looks bright for Manchester City.
