It will be another year for Manchester City in the race for more Silverware, as the Premier League champions look to add to their already illustrious trophy cabinet.
Though falling short in the Champions League and FA Cup last term, Pep Guardiola etched their names into history books by winning an unusual fourth consecutive Premier League title. The new campaign inches closer, but speculation about the future of the Catalan manager has been rife.
The former player and current pundit, Michael Bridges, has jumped into the debate, putting his support behind Guardiola’s staying at Etihad Stadium.

“I absolutely love what Guardiola is doing for English football,” enthused Bridges in an interview recently. “He is changing the game, and his tactical acumen is simply unmatched.”
Bridges compared Guardiola to the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, talking about the ability to cope with change in the squad and, in City’s case, deal with the departure of core players.
“For Guardiola is a serial winner and motivator,” added Bridges.
“Football is in his blood, and the fit with City offers him the ideal platform to carry on this success.”
Pep Guardiola has had tremendous success since taking incharge at Manchester City, winning many Silverware. More than this, he’s left his stamp on the club, and there’s a growing consensus that his departure would leave a significant void.
Although he has publicly stated that there’s a slight chance of renewal beyond next year, he also indicated that an eight-year stint with the club was unlikely to be the case. Whatever the case, no doubt, City fans will be hoping the club’s powers can persuade the manager to extend further into the future.
Under Guardiola, Manchester City remains a powerful house of English and European football. With the capacity to get the most from players and blend that with the financial power of the club, it constantly maintains the risk of winning any competition it enters.
