Manchester City defender Kyle Walker has given high praise to Spanish talent Lamine Yamal, comparing the young star to his own teammate, Phil Foden.
Yamal became the youngest player to score or assist in a European Championship knockout stage match, sending shockwaves through the football world. The level of play he has shown for both Barcelona and Spain has been outstanding, and many are asking if there has ever been a more talented 16-year-old.
Walker, who played in the Euro 2024 final against Yamal, was amazed by the boy’s skills. “He is unbelievable,” Walker told Sky Sports. “But obviously with Phil Foden, when he was here, the likes of Wayne Rooney and stuff like that.”

The comparison to Foden is especially interesting. Like Yamal, Foden was a huge talent who joined Manchester City’s first team at a very young age. Walker trained with him during those early years and believes the two share similar levels of natural talent.
While Yamal has quickly become a star, capturing the attention of many, Foden was already one of the top players. His journey from a young player with lots of potential to a global superstar sounds like a fairy tale, driven by talent and dedication.
Both Yamal and Foden are technically skilled, smart, and fearless players—qualities that are rare for their age. It is this ability to perform at the highest level that makes them stand out from their peers.
As Yamal continues to grow and develop, the football world will be watching closely to see if he can meet the high expectations surrounding him. For now, being compared to Foden is a strong sign of his exceptional talent.
