Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva might remain at the club despite his desire to leave after this season. Barcelona, previously linked with a move for Silva, now the reports suggest that they have shifted their focus to another player.

Bernado Silva, 29, has disclosed about his dream of playing closer to his native Portugal. But his loyalty to Man City and a new contract signed last year kept him with the Premier League champions. Despite his 11 goals and 8 assists this season, transfer rumors persisted.

Barcelona boss Xavi was interested in bringing Silva to Barcelona. However recent reports suggest they are trying a different midfielder, Xavi Simons.

Xavi Simon is on loan at RB Leipzig from PSG. The youngstar impressed with 22 goals and 12 assists in all competitions last campaign. His contract with Paris Saint-Germain is active until 2027, he is reportedly not keen to stay. Barcelona believe they can get his signature if they strongly push for a move.

Xavi Simons versatility across the attacking line is a better fit for Barcelona than Bernardo Silva whose dream of playing for the club seems impossible for now. Additionally, Barcelona are looking to strengthen other areas like central midfield and left wing, and don’t want to hinder the development of young winger Lamine Yamal.

With Barcelona out of the move, Silva seems set to stay at City. The Portuguese playmaker would reportedly cost around €60 million, but Barcelona are trying other targets.
