Manchester City’s tough run continued with a 2-0 loss to Juventus in the Champions League. This defeat marks their seventh loss in 10 games, raising concerns about their form and future in the competition.

City started the game well in Turin, keeping Juventus quiet in the first half. However, the second half turned against them as Dusan Vlahovic and Weston McKennie scored for the Italian side. Despite City creating chances, they couldn’t finish their moves.

After the game, Pep Guardiola spoke about the performance.

“We got into the right areas but missed the final pass,” he said. “I’m happy with how we played overall, but the result is hard to accept. I stand by my players and believe in them.”

Guardiola pointed out that injuries have affected the team’s balance. Missing key defenders and midfielders, City has struggled to stay solid at the back.

“We’re missing important players,” Guardiola explained. “Without central defenders and holding midfielders, our structure is weak. It’s tough, especially against a team like Juventus, who are strong on the counter and at set-pieces.”

He also said that City’s decision-making needs to improve.

“We’re losing the ball too easily and allowing counter attacks. We need to play simple, keep possession, and not make things harder for ourselves.”

Guardiola admitted that confidence is a problem for his team right now.

“When we lose the ball or a duel, our rhythm drops immediately,” he said. “Small mistakes hurt us, and it’s hard to recover. We need to get back to doing the basics well to rebuild our confidence.”

The City manager called on his players to take responsibility and work harder for the team.

“Every player needs to look at themselves and ask what more they can do,” he said. “We all need to step up and sacrifice for the team. That’s the only way we’ll turn things around.”

City now needs at least one point from their final group-stage game to qualify for the Champions League knockout rounds. Guardiola remains optimistic despite the current challenges.

“We’ve faced tough times before,” he said. “Step by step, we’ll get back to the level we’ve been at for years. We’ll reassess things in February and aim for better results.”

Manchester City is going through a tough period, with injuries, confidence issues, and poor results piling up. However, with Guardiola’s experience and belief in his team, fans will hope they can bounce back soon.

The next few games will be crucial, not only for their Champions League hopes but also to restore their reputation as one of Europe’s top teams.
